DAMP PROOF OFFERS NOT WHAT THEY SEEM

Residents across the region have been receiving
telephone calls from a London based business offering
free damp proof surveys. The firm offer a free damp test
on the house then carry out any work immediately
charging between £500 and £1500 for the work.

Similar operations in Cumbria involved the workers arriving
in plain vans and issuing a contract which fails to mention
cancellation rights, with money being demanded the same
day.

Householders are advised never to deal with firms who
cold call either by telephone or on the doorstep.
